Should I Use Two of Kind Weapons for Specific Roles?

I'm considering going for a Healer (Still Maybe Tank), Off-DPS and I would like to know if Tanks and Healers should pick main and off-hand weapons that fit the role to fulfill it effectively. Are the roles hindered if using DPS Off-hand weapons?
