I've just left a pretty niche job - where can I go from here?

Some background info on me first - I'm from London (England), I just turned 25, and I have a degree in Biomedical Sciences but no higher or extra qualifications.

So, a couple of months ago I left my first 'professional' job (post-graduation) after a great three-and-half years there (no bridges burned, I still see my old colleagues occasionally). The place was one of the top private laser eye surgery clinics in the world, with an in-house research team. I worked as part of this research team (retrospective and prospective clinical studies, and the like), but also on the the technical side of things (medical device management, treatment simulations/programming, helping people to reboot their PC's). In addition, I also managed junior members of my very small team. The role was basically built around what my boss needed from the clinic when he set it up, and because of this, it involved lots of different duties which I don't believe would come together in any other role I would move into.

Now, I hated the research part of things. I mean, I did well, but I realised I don't like research. I prefer working with people, or working on the technical side…but I don't have any management or engineering/technical qualifications. My old boss said that he thinks I should move into management, because I'm responsible and great with people (winner of colleague of the year, oh yeah!) and I'd love to do this, but seems easier said than done.

I'd love to work at a company with a great workplace culture, because I'm a firm believer that a fun workplace with colleagues who have a good relationship makes for greater productivity - but I know that I may have to compromise on this.

Basically I'm not sure where I should go from here, especially as I have no extra qualifications to guide me.

Would love some guidance from the gurus of reddit!

Tl;dr - I'm a nice guy, but my job was convoluted - where should I go from here?
