How Many GS can Andy Murray win?
I've been following Andy's career for a long time now. My view of his career, some may find harsh. My opinion is that if he doesn't win at least 5 grand slams, his career will be a bit of a disappointment. Note that this is purely from the perspective of GS not anything else. Outside of GS hes had a great career.
He's 3-8 in grand slam finals, which in all honesty is a poor record. In fairness to him he has played 2 all time greats (Federer and Djokovic) in the process. But there's one final in there that he probably should of won but collapsed mentally. If I was to pick one out it would be the 2015 AO Open Final Vs Djokovic (when some said he "faked" his injury).Going to 11 Grand Slam finals is exceptional, but ultimately you are remembered for winning and not losing. And that is where my criticism of his career lies.
Is he capable of winning 5 or more ? Yes he most definitely is. I think he deserves at least one Australian Open in his career after going to 5 finals. And I believe he will eventually win 1, just like Federer and Djokovic eventually won their French. Then he could win one more at Wimbledon which would bring him to 5. As far as the French Open, I do not believe he can win one. And the US Open has been pretty bad for him in recent years, but it is the most unpredictable slam in terms of winners.
How many do I think he will win? I think he will win 5 and go to 4 more finals. So his record would be 5-10 in GS finals in the era of Fed, Djokovic and Nadal that would be very respectable. I can see Stan ending with 4 grand slams, another at the US Open. I think having more GS than Stan is a big deal, because he's been much more consistent than him.
How many do you think Murray will win and what will his record be ?
