Looking for a replacement for AutoCAD

I am currently using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 for work. We mainly use it to clean up linework before putting it in Terramodel to create surface models for machine control. We also use it to create linework by tracing contours from PDFs, and for creating As-builts.

AutoCAD has recently become very glitchy and crashes so frequently that it is impossible to get anything done.

We have been looking into Carlson Software as a replacement but I would like to hear what you all think.
