Does The Good Place get better?

I've been seeing this show get quite a bit of hype on Reddit and I am a huge fan of parks and rec. Me and my girlfriend decided to check it out last night and watched the first episode. Not going to lie we both cringed our way through it. Does it get better or is it just not my cup of tea?
