Girlfriend was just let go from her department because she "improved the efficiency enough that she wasn't needed"
...we live in Sweden. Temp (6-month) contract, so I suspect there is nothing we can do anyway, but when she told me this is basically what her boss said (no recording of interview) I got pretty livid.
She was hired on to assisst an overworked department at a local hospital, caught the department up on the workload and started methods that helped others in her department do work faster. Apparently enough so that she was sent home for lack of work (previously the other worker in her dep hadn't taken a day off in years) and the boss told her this today.
Is there anything to do? Steps to avoid this in the future?
