Do you have interests in an INDEPENDENT paramotor comparison site?
First an introduction; I've gotten interested with paramotor flying. I would like to get up in the air, so went looking for paramotors and equipment. I saw some posts on reddit with recommendations, but every recommendation is personal. There is so much diversity. Some recommend to just go to a local instructor and ask them. But even instructors use different gear. Why would you blindly follow them?
So, I went looking for a comparison website for paramotors (and equipment). The only websites I could find are from companies who are recommending the stuff they sell... Even the companies who are saying that they're independent just pick a couple of brands they have connections with. Take for example the story on this website. That's exactly the problem I've, but they don't give the answer.
So, I went looking for myself. I found a list with a lot of brands. From there I searched on each brand and put a lot of paramotors on a list. But this got unclear fast. It's not easy to create a clear list with everything compared.
Aren't there any good sites where you can independently compare gear without being targeted as a buyer? Are there more starters who have the same problem? If you have a little more experience; how did you find your gear?
Besides a paramotor enthusiast, I’m also a web developer. I was thinking to help the community a bit to setup a website where you can search and filter every paramotor (and other equipment) out there. I would like to filter on paramotor properties to pick the one I need (weight, max pilot weight, hp, thrust, start method and more). To be clear; NOT to sell or promote anything! Would there be more interested in a site like this? Are you maybe even interested in helping me out with the content part?
Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated!
Edit 1
Since I've only received positive responses (as comments or as private messages) I really would like to start writing a plan for building the site! I think there also should be room for news, reviews, prices, general information, starting guides and more. Because I'm not a experienced paramotor pilot I would like to work with someone with more experience. If you are someone with some good experience or you might know someone, please leave a comment or send me a message :)
