Unsolicited advice

I work in a hotel and I just had such a frustrating experience with a guest regarding my eczema. My skin is actually doing well at the moment, my face is red and flaky and patchy, but there's no oozing or blood and I'm working on it.

A guest came to me and asked if it was eczema, I sighed and said yes. Then she said the dreaded words... "have you tried...". Aaargh! I cut her off, put on a straight face and told her very firmly that I don't talk about my skin with anyone but a doctor and I've tried enough to know what works. Usually that's enough because I'm usually very friendly towards guests and the change in demeanour throws them off. But she didn't! She had a bag with a couple of creams in it, and started telling me not to use soap. I haven't used soap for years. I do not need eczema 101, my skin doesn't have mild eczema, it is moderate to severe and weakened through years of scratching and rubbing. I told her a polite version of this, and luckily the phone rang and it saved me, and she left me alone after that.

I just don't understand how a complete stranger finds it acceptable to comment on another's appearance. What was your worse unsolicited advice story?
