Didn't focus on combat when i started, what should i do now?

My character is cumulative level 258, and a lot of the quests are really difficult to do. I mainly focused on life skills when I started, though I did dabble a little bit in ninja skills. I've been told that I'm pretty much screwed at this point when it comes to leveling my combat skills, and training them is really tough. Almost all of my combat skills are below r9, but i have over 800 ap to work with. Should I just keep training them or is there something else I can do to make her a viable character?
