The Fire At All Pins Inaugural Season Information Thread
Welcome to The Fire At All Pins society!
Here's a run down of likely questions:
What platform is the society on?
Xbox
Who is this society for?
Anybody who is looking for an active society where there's a level of competitiveness as well as communication throughout the seasons.
How many members do you have?
As of August 28th we have 29 members. We've only been around since August 25th.
What type of format / schedule will the society run on?
Right now the format we're trying for season 1 is 10 regular events, 1 major, 10 regular events and then end with another major.
In addition to the season having regular tournaments and major tournaments, during each season we plan to have one Head-to-Head tournament that will be played out throughout the duration of the season. Think March Madness or the WGC Match Play Invitational.
How often will there be tournaments?
Every day.
How many rounds per tournament?
1 round for a regular tournament. 2 rounds for a major tournament.
How long do you have to play your tournament round?
1 day for a 1 round tournament. 2 days for a 2 round tournament.
Who is eligible to play in the tournaments?
The single day tournaments will always be available to everybody. We are trying to figure out a qualification system for the majors. It's not that we want less people playing in the majors, but we want to set a high bar for earning your spot in a major event. The qualification will be based on a combination of how many points you've accumulated over the season, how many events you've played and where you've finished in tournaments.
Still trying to figure out what type of qualification will work best. But something like this is the idea: If you've played in 90% of the events you are qualified for the majors, if you have won a tournament you will be qualified for the majors, if you have five top 10s you will have qualified.
When will the Head-To-Head tournament bracket begin?
As soon as we get the ball rolling here and get enough people to set up a reasonable size bracket. If we had 8-12 committed people right now we would probably start the first head-to-head bracket.
The matches for the head-to-head tournament will not show up on the society page while you're on Xbox. We will list the course and rules on the subreddit when we're ready. The bracket will be set, you'll know who you're playing against and we will be updating the bracket as the results get reported in.
What handicap do I need to join?
Accepting all handicaps.
Will I be able to play any of the tournament rounds with other people?
I'm hoping by running the society through the reddit page we'll have more communication than most of the societies out there. If people are willing to use it we will have a thread where you'll be able to link up with some people. (eg "Hey I'm playing today's tournament at 6pm EST if anybody wants to play on the mic")
Should I expect the rest of the seasons to be exactly like season 1?
Season one is going to be a little trial period. The goal for season one is to expand the membership, have the members get to know each other, figure out what suggestions to take into account. And then hopefully when season two kicks off we'll have a more structured season.
