Good recipe for homemade vape pen oil

I'm kinda new to this but it appears that making this at home is the best way to know what's in it and keep a nice supply. Can anyone suggest an efficient, easy to make recipe? It looks like every recipe I see has me making a tincture first and then mixing in some food grade glycerin. I need some direction. I need my people! Help a brudda out?
