First build, mag release sloppy/catching?

I have an Aero Precision gen 2 lower and a PSA lpk. Everything went smoothly except the magazine release. I don't have any magazines yet so I can't test if it actually works with a magazine inserted, but right now the magazine release will catch on my receiver unless I push it directly inward. If I push it any other way, the magazine release tilts slightly in its hole and it catches on the side of the receiver. I've tried backing in/off the threads and turning the spring around -- nothing fixes it. I don't have a caliper to check the diameter, but I removed the spring and noticed that the shank on the mag release has some slop in the lower receiver.

tl;dr does it sound like my PSA mag release is out of spec?
