How much should I increase volume for bulk?
I'm finally done with my long on again, off again, cut/maintenance etc. I'm stabilizing my weight now for a short while longer, and I'll begin to increase my calories in the next week or so. When bulking, do most LG folks increase volume a lot as most other body builders would recommend, or do y'all go steady as she goes? I do a standard 3 day routine, full body each day, mostly compound movements. I do mostly 5 sets of 5 for each movement, but utilizing mostly my own version of reverse pyramids (I decrease by feel, not by formula). I usually do 3 big lifts (Decline bench, rows, squats) and then depending on time/energy I add in other movements, shoulder press/pullups/dips and very occasionally some isolation. I continue to slowly increase the weight I'm lifting, so things are going well.
Would you as LG practitioners typically switch to what most folks would consider hypertrophy ranges (8-12 reps/set) to maximize growth? Can I expect decent/good gains staying with what I do if I slowly ratchet up the calories, and keep up the intensity in the gym? Does it matter that much?
