Perfectionnist mother can cause trauma ?

In moments of stress such as taking very important exams for my career, I get flashbacks of my abusive mother who was always neuroticly pushing me into becoming her version of a "better me".

The only topic she would ever talk about growing up and even today is "my future" and she would even use "We" when talking about it, like " we need a secured job, etc...".

This leads me sometimes to Wonder if I am pursuing a career in Actuarial Sciences instead of film making ( what I really want ) because of that, but I think I am doing that to make money for making movies in the future, a step anyone with a third world passport has to take I guess.

Didn't mean to give out too much detail about personal life, so sticking to the question, are such visions of her yelling about my future normal ? Is there a way to make this go a way to avoid psychological strain while studying ? I tried meditation and it's helping a lot, just wondering if anyone knows of something else...

I thank you in advance.
