[TOMT][movie] What is the title of the movie where a shadow-like "thing" in a form of a column appears in the middle of the room of a house?

I would also describe it as a black hole, except it is not a hole but formed like a column.

Some more details: There was a little child (don't remember if boy or a girl) sitting right next to the shadow thing, looking at it. I'm not sure, but I think then this kid goes into this shadow and disappears. Firemen (or people in some kind of hazmat suits) go inside to look for the child, but everyone who goes inside does not come back. This shadow is also growing and starting to consume whole house.

I remember seeing this movie on tv as a kid somewhere between 1995 and 2000 and being scared watching it, although I don't think I watched the whole movie. Anyway, I remember those details very vividly.
