Are there quanties that are globally conserved but not locally conserved?
As I've learned more physics, the conservation laws that I've grown familiar with have been recasted in terms of the local conservations. This makes sense as it makes the law of physics agreeable with special relativity.
My question is: does this generalize? Are all global conservation laws merely extensions of more powerful local ones?
