Celiagene test?

Question

So I have been gluten free by my own choice since about February when I thought perhaps a low FODMAP diet might help my chronic pain ease up. In a matter of a month and a half, I noticed great improvement! So, once I finally had an appointment with someone in digestive health at my university hospital, I had some anecdotal evidence. They decided to test for Celiac. Obviously the blood test came back negative because I had not eaten gluten in months. The PA said I could do the genetic test, but I might need to check with my insurance company first. Of course they gave me some BS about the doctor writing a letter of predetermination, which basically drags out the process for a month (I have experience here), and insurance then inevitably says no; no matter what your doctor says. That would mean I have to do the "gluten challenge" for a month, and then have my blood drawn again. Yeah!

Just curious if anyone has had success with insurance covering the genetic testing. If so, how? Thanks! I just really don't want to put myself through a month of horrible pain. I do want to know if I have Celiac just so I know how careful I really need to be.
