TWW Campaign Lines of Defence

At the moment Im playing as Vamps but was just wondering what are the best cities/ terrortories to hold on the map(as any faction) in order to allow majority of your forces to conquer/raze your enemies while little man power is needed at your province to protect it. For example the chokes the dwarves hold in mountains ect. (Only example i can think of ;( i need help
