Keying-In Concrete Necessary?

Hello folks.

I've been shopping for a concrete driveway install, and was told by one installed that the driveway will need to be keyed-into the street with a new strip of asphalt.

I wasn't expecting this, and I'm concerned about he aesthetics.

Is this necessary?
