Not quite at my goal but so close I can't help but celebrate

Today my weight was 57.9kg. I'm 150cm and I honestly don't remember when I weighed this much. I know by the time I was 16 I was 63kg. Most of my adult life I was about 75kg, and at my worst I got up over 90kg (I stopped getting on the scale so I'm not exactly sure how bad it was).

I started losing weight in 2011. Like most people, it hasn't been linear. I've lost and regained a bit, I wasn't always focused on weight loss, and I spent a while at 63kg while dealing with some health issues.

I have CFS/ME and endometriosis. The endo is being treated, but until a year ago I was in constant pain. The cfs/me means I can't be as active as I want to be, and I'm sometimes housebound (and occasionally bedbound). When I first started losing weight I fell in love with lifting and hiking, but I can't consistently do those things anymore. As much as I would love to be active, it's not healthy for me and I have to limit my activity.

Yet I'm still losing weight - in March I was 62kg. Yes, progress is slow, but it's progress all the same. I keep my calories low and try to adjust based on activity. I eat well - nutrient dense whole foods - and I don't feel restricted or hungry or like I'm missing out on anything. This is sustainable, I feel satisfied. I feel good.

Once I hit 56kg I'll be in a healthy weight range for the first time in my life. My next goal will be 53kg, and then maybe down to 50 depending on how I feel. One of the things I have to consider with having chronic illness is I have to be careful not to lose too much - I need some reserves for the times when I can't eat.

If you've got chronic illness, if you can't exercise for whatever reason, if you have to do things differently because standard advice doesn't fit you, or if you have to put weight loss on the backburner for a bit because other things need your attention and focus, it's ok. You can still be successful. You can still reach your goals. You can still be proud and amazed at your accomplishments.

Good luck!
