Question about salt in the engine and gel coating blisters.
Hey guys,
I've searched google with no answer so far so I figured I would ask you guys and see if anyone knows the answer.
I went to look at a boat with a buddy yesterday and it was in great shape except for 2 things: potential salt in the engine and gel coating blisters.
The boat sits in the river for 5 months at a time but our part of the river is an estuary (where freshwater meets saltwater) so there is salt in the water but I assume not that much. For example, you can't taste it like the ocean. I'm wondering how this affects both the outside of the boat but more importantly the engine. Engine is an Indmar 340. Thoughts?
Second, the body had gel coating blisters all along the water line on one side and half the other side. How big of an issue is this? What are the chances of them going away? What is the cost to fix?
The boat is a 2004 Supra Launch SS. Does anyone know much about this model in general?
Thanks!
