Issues taming the Queen Bee

I'm able to break the hive and free the Queen, but I am never offered the chance to feed her. The drones eventually kill me off after my multiple attempts. Any tips? Yes to all Ghilly armor and yes to bug repellent ( though I'm not asking for survival advice, just taking advice). PC player.

Edit: Turns out it's some sort of glitch. Sometimes, with passive tames, they will stay aggro'ed forever. This also happened with a cute little monkey I had wanted to tame. He eventually died from being startled by me when I was no where near it.
