Main differences between the US, EU and DE market?

I'm slowly getting interested in finance, but I'm not sure if it would help more to read books and other resources from the US, or if I should learn to understand the german/austrian market.
Aren't there any huge differences? What huge topics to understand are there and where do they differ?
And am I posting this on the right subreddit?
