THE prelim

Hi fellow blues fans,

Forgive the poor formatting, the general laziness, and all of the rest of it. There's been beer involved. After a while of not having beer. So I'm loving life right now. Friday night and all that. It's been a bloody long week, beer has been the reward. Watching footy on tv tonight, dogs v hawks (tangent - bob murphy's mum was one of my fave teachers at secondary school, Art and RE - I'm always thrilled to see him do well. Meanwhile Craig Hutchy was also at our school, the year below me, it was a smallish school in those days, I remember when he seemed to be a sweet quiet kid. Wtf happened since then? Oh shit, another tangent, Trent Hotton was in my class for years. Nice guy. To a point. But one of those never lived up to his potential/peaked too early guys. Basketball was more his thing. Oh and finally, I'm from Ablett country. As in God. Oh the stories. All true.)

Anyways, I'm yearning for the good old days. You know, when Blues won more than the odd game. When we weren't "rebuilding" but were instead winning. Not forgetting last week's effort, that was sweet to see. But as the title says, I'm thinking about the prelim. You all know what I mean. I had it on video, but we live in a different world now, and god knows where my much loved and much watched copy is. I'm sure it's out there on dvd, but I'm too lazy and cheap to look for it via the normal channels, if there are any. Can anyone help me out? I'd really like to watch it again, repeatedly, even more so with a few crownies, and the odd time I happen to catch it on tv on footy flashbacks isn't enough to satisfy.

Also, what about the game where Franchina got under Winmar's skin? And the Blues v hawks game that we won, back in I think it was the mid- late 90s. I was at a wedding in Hamilton, vic, and got to see a qtr or so before having to get in the taxi to go to the church, and when I made it back to the motel after much alcohol and festivities I was thrilled to see we'd won, actually I think we'd unexpectedly thrashed them, but I could be wrong. It was a long night. Best wedding I've ever been to. Lots of alcohol. And mull. Great night. Side note - they since divorced, he's now deceased, how life turns hey. Anyways, we definitely won though, and we weren't expected to. One of those sweet victories. Jesus it's been quite a drought hey?

Oh shit, the game's just finished. Aaah Hodgey. What a man. Swoon. And Murphy. I've already mentioned my six degrees of separation and all that.

Back to the point. Can anyone help me out with a copy of any of these games??? Especially The prelim, but also the other two I mentioned, and really any of the greats? And how wonderful is it to see jack silvagni? His face is all Jo, but the body is all SOS. Ahh I love the Blues. My scarf is a VFL one. Oh jesus, roving BT is on screen right now. Ugh. Do I mention the shit I have on him? Married man and all that. And don't get me started on the saturation of wayne carey on ch7/afl. Do we really need this complete shit of a person on our screens every week? There's so many other quality former players out there, why do we persist with Duck?

I've transgressed. Beer will do that to me. Back to the point. Again. Those games. The prelim especially. Love to see them again. Who can help me?
