What do you like in a music video?

We're having a bit of disagreement over what direction to go with our next music video. We're an indie rock/alternative band influenced by Pixies, Wolf Alice, Warpaint, Incubus etc.

Do you like to see a narrative in music videos? Do you like a story to follow? Do you just like to see things interestingly shot with more of a focus on the band members and their personalities? What kinds of videos get your attention nowadays (keeping the genre in mind)?

What are your preferences for a new music video in 2017?
