I'm visiting from out of town, And I have a stupid small town question.

I'm visiting KC, staying in a hotel at Crown Center. I want to go to Grunauer for supper tonight, and would like to walk. It doesn't look far from the hotel, but I'm not a big city guy and was wondering if it would be better to drive, or is it an easy (and safe) walk? Also, any other lunch and dinner suggestions in the downtown area would be nice, I can take a shuttle all the way to the convention center and Power and Light district. Thanks!
