Breaker Panel Heating up after remodel. Greensboro NC

After an extensive remodel to their residence, my In-Laws can no longer turn on their oven and use all burners without tripping a (i'm told) 50 amp breaker. Plus the panel becomes hot. This is after several appliances were burnt up during the remodel when power was restored. Apparently all was fixed and passed inspection but I'm not convinced, being that they can't even use their stove. Any advice would be great. Thanks.
