Taking Hwy 1 from LA to Fresno

Hi guys hopefully you can help me out here. I've always taken the 99 and I'm tired of all the boring "sights" along the way. I was wondering how long realistically I can do that trip in.

According to Google it says 5 hours. Can it be done in less time?
