Is there a way to set attack-move on key release?

I currently have my attack-move-click bound to T. Apparently Vapora does this too, which I found out when I talked to him on this subreddit actually! (I definitely fangirled a bit.)

Anyways, having it bound to T and all is really nice, for the most part, as an ADC main. But there's always been one little thing that bothered me more than it should, and that's the action triggering on key press and NOT key release.

This is because the vast majority of the actions bound to my keyboard (so my left hand) are set to smartcast with indicator, which means that they all trigger on key release. Having my attack-move-click be different is really throwing me off, since (like everything else) I've gotten used to things triggering on key release and not key press.

Basically, I want a way to get an attack move "click" to trigger when I release the key, not when the key is initially pressed and not with a mouse click input required. Sort of an a-click "smartcast with indicator," if you will. The actual indicator is completely unnecessary, but it would be a nice touch.

Is there a (legal/safe) way to do this? If so, how?

Also, can this method be applied to other left-hand actions (like summoner spells, autoattack empowering abilities, auto-smartcast abilities like Karthus q or vayne tumble, ect.)

Thanks! <3

you might be interested in attack-move click, however requires you to left click to complete the attack-move command.

I'm aware of attack-move click, and I tried to use it. Not a fan.

As far as I am aware, you can not change this.

One thing that I would recommend however is that you get rid of your crutch of using smart cast with indicators. It is the worst option out of the possibilities because it creates extra input delay, which can make or break fights as an ADC.

Obviously this is up to you to, but just my suggestion. Either go full smartcast and use stuff like shift+key to aim the ability, or go full ability+click.

Playing with smartcast+indicators is very similar to playing locked screen. It is easier and some people can do it at a high level, but it is suboptimal and limits your ability to maximize your play.

I haven't had any issue with it. I know that many high-level players use normal cast and don't apparently seem to have an issue with it, and I certainly do smartcast without indicators (I have keybinds set up for it.) I just tend to use the indicator smartcasts because I prefer to be a bit more measured and careful when I play.

hey man i know what your talking about, i used the same option in heroes of the storm, it seems that theres no setting in game, i wish there was, it would make things more acurate rather then kneejerking sometimes

The thing that bothers me is that it's so inconsistent. Turning on indicators makes it so everything has slightly different timings. It bothers me so much...

You could try playing with smart cast on everything, you can use a modifier key to range indicate things if you need to - might help get you in a better flow with attack moving.

But the only way you can do what you want to do is with modifier keys - like the M1-M5 or whatever keys on a high-end keyboard. You bind the key as an opposite of your T key (if that makes sense) while it's pressed T is released, while it's released T is pressed - add a couple delays between the actions to simulate fluency. This can cause you grief while typing but it will give you the action you desire. But you'd have to play the whole game with the key pressed. You might be able to mess with it so it's not repeated on press - but most keyboards as a built in function of windows repeat on press.

What software would allow you to do that? I have a tenkeyless keyboard (Logitech G410) which does not have macro keys, but I don't think the logitech software even supports that function even on a keyboard that does.

Riot supports a 1 to 1 macro usage. Technically a macro key that "reverses" a key is a 3 to 1 macro usage (off, on, off). I don't know if it's still Legal - try emailing their support.

Your keyboard seems lack luster for a $150 keyboard

If you are a logitech fan here is a better keyboard idea https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126397

I'm going to assume you have smaller hands, due to the fan-girl statement; if you have long fingers than this idea of macro keys will work for you.

You can also TRY and use autohotkey at your own risk. I suggest making a new account and testing it to see if you get caught by an automatic ban bot. It's always good to message Riot directly and ask them if the following script will get you banned.

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/43jrrz/can_i_get_banned_for_autohotkey/

If you setup your T key to "macro" a negative key effect it might work in your favor. You'd want to bind your attack move to a different key than T, like Y.

You'd want the script something like

if (KeyWait T) ; Wait for T to be released
send, Y ; Sends Y key to your League game that way
else ; you don't get a lot of inputs when you press T
{ ; When you have the T key pressed it pauses the script
pause ; this should remove that repeat issue
}

I actually only spent $60 on the keyboard, which is why I have this one and not the pro or another keyboard. That, and my desk (dorm room) is too small for a full-size keyboard, so I was limited to tkl keyboards regardless.

I've thought about autohotkey but I'm not sure if that's actually legal or not. Maybe.

Your keyboard generally only recognizes a key when it's pressed, to make it do something when the key is not pressed anymore would require a script of some sort.

Not true. My abilities in league already trigger on key release.

But there is no in-game option (Afaik) that does the same thing for attack move.

If you use smart cast with indicators then yeah, it readies the skill while it's pressed and activates it on release. But this won't work for any other features.

... that's precisely what I was saying. I was trying to find a legal workaround for that, sort of like a keyboard macro or a registry edit that would allow me to directly change that function, or maybe catch the attention of a rioter who could add it to the game eventually.

I dont think theres any way to fix this, you just have to adjust. What I do is bind it to a button on my mouse instead since all mouse click are on click, not release. If your mouse allows you to do this, def try it out. Also, if you mouse have back/forward side buttons, League allows you to bind it directly instead of through your mouse' software. Hope this helps.

I tried that, and it works okay. But my muscle memory isn't cooperating and I don't want to spend three more years (that's how long I've been using attack-move on T) learning to use a new key.
