"The Kindergarten Kid" set up a future, important plot point
When Steven says "You don't poof easy, huh?" he's referring to Peridot. He's also noting, for the audience, that different gems have varying levels of resistance to being poofed. This will be important when the diamonds are eventually fought.
That is all.

"You don't poof easy, huh?"
Even though Garnet popped her like a baloon
Yes, and Garnet has the strength of Ronaldo
Pretty sure that Garnet squeezing really hard doesn't sum up to the damage Peridot took in "The Kindergarten Kid"
Bear hug > 6-ton rock landing on your head from a 100yd drop
Gems in general are pretty immune to drops. Ruby, Jasper, and Lapis all fell out of orbit and the crystal gems regularly jumping across beach city, but none have been proofed from the falls.
well, Peridot on that episode has been beaten many times.
I've seen an interesting theory about this. Peridot is pretty resilient to PHYSICAL damage, which is very important for a Gem that deals with unstable terrain (like a kindergarten) and is one of the first to go to a new planet. However, she is not very resistant to GEM (hard light) damage, which is why she poofed so easily when Garnet grabbed her. The same thing happened to Lapis: she was poofed by Bismuth in a single punch (flashback in The Same Old World), but a ship crash merely stunned her for a few seconds.
Or maybe because the punch was on her gem.
It wasn't only Garnet squeezing her, that was just the finishing touch. Before that, Peridot got electrocuted and slammed into the ground with a whip.. That must be pretty painful. Plus, her limb enhancers were already damaged from previous attempts at capturing her. Still, that doesn't equal the amount of carnage she took in Kindergarten kid..
