[Iron Backpacks] Nested compression upgrade pack in a mining filter pack?

I'm having trouble getting these two upgrades to work together. I want to compress cobble, dirt, and gravel I pick up in a gold bag nested in my diamond bag, but it doesn't seem to work, and I think it's due to the mining filter.

I have the mining filter set to collect cobble, dirt, and gravel so it will actually go in the backpack, but the golden one doesn't then collect them from the backpack it's in despite being filtered to do so.

Is there a solution?

I believe the depth upgrade needs to go on the outer/diamond pack, not the nested/gold one.

iirc the way it works is that the nested inner (slave) pack is set to pick up whatever, and the depth upgrade is placed on the 'outer' (host) pack.

I had the same set up in Sprout that I think you're shooting for:

Outer pack Diamond pack, Mining upgrade, with compression set to coal/redstone/blah..., depth.

Inner pack filtered to grab gravel, sand, marble, void cobble smooth stone, andesite, diorite and granite.

Eventually, I just set the void on the mining pack and used the other pack for junk/tools. I was collecting a ton of stuff I just didn't use.

But I hope that answers your question.
