A temporary escape.
Highs the size of mountains,
elevating sight,
transcending pain.
Tones drone like wind.
A warm embrace
all-encompassing your veins.
Until she says, "Wait,
there's more on your plate.
Don't kill the darkness with light."
There's no choice but to dive
where storm clouds remain
from the darkest of nights.
Shadows hang on forgotten pangs.
Pieces of kind have yet to be replaced.
"Surender" she says,
"There's more to be obtained."
The trough of the wave
mirrors highs of old refrains.
The plunge into darkness
conjures the rains
encapsulated by thoughts
others can't explain.
Looking up,
a break in the clouds
offers an escape.
