Free promotional games from 9/11 still not distributed and support staff have been blowing off users. Check out the forum thread on it. This is the first time I've seen GOG screw up this bad on customer support. Anyone else having this problem? Is there new management?

Is there actually anything official from GOG yet? You link to a forum where people complain, but I can't find any response fromg gog.

Curious where the problem might be at...

I just checked and the promotional email clearly states that:

  • The free games will be distributed via email starting on Tuesday, September 19th. You'll get to pick the games of your choice through that same email. If you're not paying in USD, these tiers are adjusted to your currency equivalents, with the exceptions of RUB, BRL, and CNY.

I might not really get what the problem is but doesn't it say that you need to buy 15 buckaroos worth of US Pesos to receive all 3 of the promo games? So what is the problem, other than people missing it by a few cents?

So something to do with people buying in other currencies and the conversion meaning they didn't appear to spend the amount listed?

Doesn't seem like some monumental screw up to me but hopefully they'll work it out with people effected.

It goes a little beyond that. The very first people to receive the games they paid for got them about 3 days late. Then two random collections of people received them 24 hours apart, with many people still being left out.

The US currency vs. other currencies thing is a separate issue where it looks like the advertisements falsely claimed that "5 dollars" unlocked games instead of "$5 USD." So guys in Australia are being told that they won't get their games at all.

Several issues in one sale:

  • Immediately available games went out days late...

  • If you're lucky, because a lot of people still don't have them...

  • But you better have paid USD, or you might not get your games at all...

  • And GOG has been totally silent about it, instead letting people figure this all out in the forums by posting their support ticket emails.

This sale had a lot of things go wrong, and GOG has been handling it really poorly.

Okay, so GOG must be sending out different promotion emails to people because the one I got shows that you need to spend $5-10-15 USD for the promo to be valid.

Or maybe people didn't read the fine print and got screwed. What is going on with the licenses not going out in the usual time is not something I know anything about so I'll leave that one alone.

They've changed in the past few months. It started with that push for Galaxy. Once they have enough people on it, or people just don't know how to get the classic downloads anymore, they'll just switch to official DRM to compete with Steam.

It was only a matter of time. The bean counters obviously noticed GOG, and now are busy running the show.

That is too bad, I loved gog when they first started up. Seemed so down to earth, and eager to please their fanbase. I tried buying a game recently but my card wouldnt allow the purchase to go through, never got any email back when I emailed support asking if this was widespread or an issue with my bank

I hope they resolve it for your sake. I don't believe anyone should have a bad experience with GOG.

It really is too bad, have a ton of great games but I just dont have the time, patience or energy anymore. When I was 20 something I would have found a fix by now but 30 year old me just cant hang sadly
