The One That Got Away

Of all the people walking this world

I ran into one special girl

And let me tell you now before it’s too late

Because this just changed my whole mental state

We are insignificant

We are selfish

No one cares about you

And that’s the gist of it

But if you can find just one person who cares about you

Why would you ever want to let them down?

She brought you a boat and you let her drown

Loud with her love and you didn’t make a sound

You gave her nothing when she gave you a crown

You loved her with an ounce when she loved you with a pound

She made you smile and you made her frown

Didn’t even make her laugh but you’re still a clown

Took her love for granted and I’m not proud

I wish I knew then what I knew now

Because I would be perfect second time around
