What do we think about this house? I know it is not mid century modern, but I know the guy that owns it.

It doesn't look like it's almost 2300 square feet, but maybe that is because I no longer trust real estate photos?
Yes. I am going to see how that is possible today. Plus there is a whole room dedicated to the apples.
We need our Church Hillians to weigh in. u/tiglathpilesar u/morechipsandsalsa u/madmenisgood
I hope they get every penny!
Unbiased opinion here, folks! :)
Obvs
I like it. Looks like it's a quality reno. I think it's pricey for as deep in Union as it is, but I could see it going at close that price given how things are going.
Yes. From my understanding, there is a lot of commercial development about to happen over here. Plus the The Most Hipster Place in the World is right around the corner
That place truly is the most hipster place in the world.
She keeps telling me. I have to go by sometime and see it for myself.
That soda fountain looks interesting, though.
Plus you can get a $45.95 galvanized mop bucket while you are drinking it.
I've always kind of wanted to go there, but it scares me - like I might feel so old and unhip I have to run out into traffic. Plus I bet things are $$$$$$.
That price is crazy.
It feels crazy, but it is actually comprable. There is a house about the same size across the street that is going for about the same price. I am telling you, Church Hill is on the rise. Plus the prostitutes seem to be running a pretty good business lately.
Well, that's good for them.
I agree. i wouldn't be surprised if that house was like 250 to 275, but that number is outrageous. that house isn't that good looking.
I appreciate that they included a cactus as their one source of color in one of the rooms. So prickly and unapproachable, which is pretty much the vibe I get from the entire house.
Not really a fan of this one. There's no color, no character (apples withstanding), the floors are kinda terrible, and everything else just looks blank and dead. It'll sell within the week.
Edit: Upon further inspection, what I thought was a cactus is just a pot of decorative grass, making this even less interesting than I thought it was.
Cash buyer, 50k over asking.
Exactly.
I like the floors but not across the whole house. It's a little much. Maybe in a bathroom or closet or something.
Also, I'm officially over open kitchens.
And the whole power/telephone wire situation across the front of the house is tragic
I'm ok with a kitchen open to a living area, but I want all of that to be closed off to the rest of the house. I would like to be able to see my kids while I cook but not have to completely clean my kitchen every time someone's coming over.
what does "clean my kitchen" mean. I have never heard of this.
That is because you have me.
I like the house. Looks like a good reno, from the pics anyway.
Not really digging the floor finish, but can't really see it closely. Is it pickled heart pine, or some kind of replacement?
And the shower reminds me of The Wall in GoT.
That would be a cold shower. I believe they are a replacement. Not sure
I like the house, but overall it feels cold and sterile. I wish it retained more of it's original character. Or something. It needs warmth...
That yard is rough for a half a million dollars.
Yeah, the yard is disappointing.
That is a major drawback of church hill in general. at least you don't have to mow hay and bricks
These houses always make me think of a shoebox with the top slightly open on one side.
When we were first looking we were told that getting insurance on a flat roofed house can be difficult. Is that not the case?
I have no idea. We never looked at any flat roof.
Yeah, it was hard and expensive to insure.
The company I'm with would only insure it on the condition that I replaced it almost immediately (was a tar and gravel roof and replaced with TPO).
I hate the floors, so it's good that they are everywhere. I also hate the little mini-bar thing by the window. That seems useless. I DO like the bowl full of apples that deserved its own picture, so I would gladly pay as much as $500,000 for that alone.
I am back and forth on the floors. I am going to go see them in person today. Will provide feedback. They look sort of like what the floors look llike after you have sanded them but have not put the new finish on yet.
Yeah, they definitely look "unfinished" which is probably the look they are going for, I just hate them. I saw something similar in another Church Hill house years ago when this house would have had only a slightly ridiculous price instead of the current completely ridiculous price.
Why are you going to look at it today? Are y'all considering leaving the eden of NewSoFa?
I hate the floors too. And too much white.
I guess I'm the dissenter today. I think I like the floors.
I have no doubt that someone is going to buy that house because they love those floors. I am reserving my judgment until I see them in person.
SHOCKING
Pfffft.
Imma back you on that, while they have a different finish than mine, the wood is very similar.
I think it's the finish that most of us are disliking.
I don't mind them either. But I agree with Rico that there's too much white and gray overall.
And pictures of bicycles? Vomit.
But no pictures of apples on bicycles. Literally unlivable.
The all new iBike.
Those are worth at least 20k.
You're right. They should deduct at LEAST 20k for having those up.
Came here to say this about the apples. They're not even real! Come on.
A bowl full of fruit is designed to say, "Look I have my shit together enough to buy fruit AND display it!"
It should say "I will pelt you with these if you put the toilet paper roll on incorrectly". :P

Yep. Floors are the worst.
