LPT: Preheat your oven using "Broil"

Food & Drink

Instead of choosing "Preheat" and waiting ten minutes, choose "Broil High". The oven will heat up much faster. After a few minutes, just switch the oven to your desired temp, most likely it will be ready to go.

LPT: Don't do this.

The oven is designed to warm up over time to ensure even cooking temperatures throughout the space. Also, part of what makes an oven effective are the walls and linings that are designed to warm up and hold in the heat. When you open the door after "flash" warming the oven, you've now just lost all the heat (or most of it) and it needs to heat back up again.
I suppose if you're cooking frozen food, you don't need to worry too much about the cooking quality, but if you're baking... DO NOT DO THIS!!!!

Or it will be far too hot and you'll have to wait for it to cool down. And you won't know which it is unless you've got a thermometer inside.

Even if it is a little too hot, just throw the food in there and it will cool down on it's own to the desired temp. I've been doing this for years and it's never been an issue.
