Not discriminating solely on the basis of skin color.

Not treating people different just because they are of a different color.

Not thinking about race in any decision.

Good answer.

So then affirmative action is racist?

1
MildlyMelancholy•

Yeah, I think affirmative action is harmful over the long run. If you give someone a position due to their race, other races will resent that, starting the cycle of hate again.

Yeah kind of.

I think all people ultimately judge each other by appearance, so I don't think racism is something that will ever disappear. That being said, I guess "not being racist" means:

  1. Not using racial epithets.

  2. A mindset where you don't look down on someone just because they're of a different race.

  3. A belief that you should treat someone equally regardless of their race.

Jews are a distinct race, however you can't necessarily identify a racial Jew (as separate from the religion) from Europeans. However, you can still be racist against Jews.

Racism therefore is less about appearance, right?

Hmmm... you're right, there are plenty of examples where its not about appearance. I do think the issues are related though. Racism is ultimately about identifying someone as "different" to us and finding issue with that difference. And one of the major ways we do that is via appearance.

I am a man, a woman is different from me. If I am prejudiced by that woman for being a man than she is sexist not racist.

Racism is solely about prejudicial behaviour or judgement based on race, be that race implicit, implied, assumed or known. That race does not explicitly have to be different than our own however. If I am of Caucasian heritage and prejudice other people of Caucasian heritage based on the fact they are Caucasian I'm still being racist.

Edit: added in text or judgement

It means hating people not for the color of their skin or nationality but because that specific person is a shitty human being.

Being sexist extra hard to make up for it.

What did you expect your racist video to demonstrate? I mean, if you pushed a video about tribalism, sure, I could see where you were coming from even though it is decreasingly relevant in a globalist world. But that video? It's just some racists singing about their racism with puppets.

To not be racist at all means to not prejudice, including your judgements, based on race partially or wholly.
