Growing pains
Many years ago
I was told to be a man
By eyes that held a glow
In a valley filled with sand
Far away from everything
Tucked away into a hill
Through trees and open plains
Where lies and truth could kill
I pondered then, what may become
Would i collapse at the very thought
Perhaps i would be undone
Or maybe not
Could i exist
Was it all a dream
The point of life
Seemed too obscene
But then i saw it
Through rose tinted glass
A mirror of sorts
A portal to the past
I peered through reflections
Of the life i had lived
Careless and free
A life without sin
And then a distortion
Where love was supposed to be
Like a ghost of a fog
Of some fucked up grey sea
I was sure, in that moment
That life had a plan
I was to die after all
It was time to fold my hand
The cards were stacked against my house
The architect fucked up he left something out
Missing supports for most of my life
Pull the plug or pull me out of the night
Into the day, or what's left of the light
I sleep most of it off like a bad trip to fight
Take flight with a drug that brought laughter and fear
So when i am gone, don't shed one tear
The frames painted over, a portrait of null
The poison in my veins, only there to dull
A loss of feeling, or regaining of some
No threat of distinction, artificial fun
Many years ago, i became a man
And with my eyes aglow, i sift through the sand
Waiting in silence, for someone to show
Eternal existence, I'm drifting like snow
My heart is like glass, transparent and fragile
Maybe worth something, but i can't imagine
That people would want it, it's too immature
Or maybe too aged, a top sell, I'm sure
The highest bidder won't have enough cash
To reclaim the remains from all of the ash
Priceless both ways, unique and alone
Through writing a glimpse, of what's left of my soul
