I just want to say this man is no where near contrite enough. Anything short of seppuku is not contrite enough.

If only he had a chance to qualify in the UEFA groups like those Euro hotshots.

In the midst of all this happening, I just want to point out that I had chances to play club soccer at a young age but because of my low income family, my parents were never able to afford it. Im 18 now and have lost hope through my childhood because of my financial circumstances. Im not saying I would have made it, but Im telling you my story regarding the "PAY-FOR-PLAY" system that exists in US soccer. This doesnt reflect just my story, there are millions of us with the same dream and the same outcome. US soccer has no one to blame but itself, the only Football country with this system in place that marginalize their massive low income pool of players, whose talents go to waste. Remember Whose ever said theres a lack of talent and skill in this country is lying to you, there is world class talent for days out there playing in the dark. Its just theyve never played in the lights.

For sure. You're eliminating a vast pool of potential talent by default already which only streamlines and narrows the ones who are keen due to the needed investment. Unfortunate that it's the system in place really.

It is very unfortunate yes, it's not all bad though I luckily focused on school and got a scholarship to Santa Barbara which is close to home. I hope all those people who had their dreams ruined can make it some where else :)

I mean you're right its a systemic failing from top to bottom and you reap what you sow.

Is there anything like AAU soccer? I think that is a good idea to find talent because it works with basketball.

How the hell did the scores of the other games not matter at all at any time? Nobody had updates from the tunnel at least. It never mattered that you still had a possibility of not making the most important tournament in the world, fuck off.

And the gameplay was atrocious it's like the whole squad including the staff we're betting on Mexico and Costa Rica to win undoubtedly. We all know the impossible can happen at any moment of a match so you've always got to be prepared.

Fuck Bruce I almost want to cry because this sets soccer back in the US for years to come. The small talent that we have playing for us will go unnoticed at the World Cup.

I get what he's saying that it shouldn't have mattered but like you said, it's bullshit to say it didn't matter. Their arrogance and reluctance to work to earn their spot put soccer back several years. I really can't explain what I saw on the field tonight. It doesn't make sense that a group of competitors would look like that on the field. It looked like a group of entitled players who were told if you go out there and execute, we'll win because we're the US and we are better than TT. Looked like they forgot that intangibles also play a part. That relentless effort and passion are huge parts of a game as well. Give me a group of hard working below average players over a bunch of entitled, apathetic average players any day.

Kind of similar to Argentina except they have a get out of jail free card with Messi where as the US don't

It didn't even look like they were told to execute tbh. It looked more like we had everything already booked for Russia and the result didn't matter at all win or loss. Give us a group the like the opposition today playing for nothing at all but hungry for a win.

It should have mattered though. It's a totally different mindset playing with the knowledge that you're out if you don't score

They didn't make adequate sacrifices to the football gods. They should have sacrificed Alexi Lalas and examined his entrails to confirm the gods' satisfaction. Then all of this could have been avoided.
