The Obvious
I take my bike keys to Hitler's face again
Scratching the sticker off yet another trash can
This is a game we play, they put up propaganda
And I follow, scrape it off, take it down, erase it
"The Resistance", they call themselves now
As if defending themselves against an enemy
I take the sticker off and carry on to work
Where the children greet me with glee
Blue eyes, black eyes, green and brown
With those same looks in them
They play their games in several languages
Playing house in spanish and doctor in finnish
And come to the rowan tree with equal curiosity
When I bend a branch down for them to try the berries
Their joy has not been robbed by little sticker Hitlers
Spread by people who are not here to see
How they are all the same
