Noah
Noah
Noah held that god would guide
his ark along the sea
that His will was with the tide
the world had paid its fee.
Then suddenly to his surprise
the ark shook to a stop.
With trembling eyes turn to the skies
he made a final plea.
His voice echoed across the waves
Past the peaks and liquid graves
Further still it echoed on
Into the void but not beyond
The silence spoke to him
its terrible forked tongue
whispering a hymn
left too long unsung.
It said that life was stark
But that he could be free,
that in his hands he held a spark
his own divinity.
And that evening as he drifted
clinging to his raft
he felt his future right there with him
within the ocean draft.
He felt himself unravel
entwining with the zephyr;
Its sinews held his heart and
cooled his old cracked leather.
Looking for all types of critiques, however, specifically, I would like to know if the rhyme scheme and meter are working well or not. Thanks for spending time with my words :)
