Silence
Silence is inescapable.
She pounds on the doors on my wandering mind.
She invites herself in like an old and welcomed friend,
greeting me with an outreached hand.
As I lean towards her,
I feel the floor beneath me collapse.
Silence carries me down,
surrounding me with each foot I fall.
As I lay at the bottom of a dark pit,
I can no longer find the will to stand.
Silence pulls me in closer;
I am a prisoner in her grasp.
I have lost the fire in me.
The cold wind of Silence has extinguished all I had left.
She tears me down from within,
Until I am nothing.
From the bottom,
I pull the broken pieces together.
Each sweeping motion a part of the fight.
And as the pieces scratch and scrape against the cold metal floor,
Silence is forsaken.
I scream, and Sound is brought to life.
