Halloween Contest!
It's October, and Halloween/Samhain is just around the corner. As such, we're running a special contest for the next week or so, with a special shoutout to u/maybeapoet for the idea. Here's the run-down:
From now til midnight on Halloween (when it turns over to November/All Saint's Day), submit your spookiest/scariest/creepiest/most-in-tune-with-the-season poems in this thread. It'll be in contest mode for the purposes of scoring, so upvote your fellows' poems as you see fit. You don't need to post feedback links with your submissions in this thread, but otherwise the sub/site rules still apply.
The best entries will get some special, spooky, and seriously cool prizes (which we'll reveal in due time).
Here's a little something to help get you in the right mood:
There are dark things that stalk the night
and thrive on terror deep.
The only defense, candlelight -
but wax drips as you sleep.
Their presence first known by the chill
that penetrates to bone;
the forest falls, silent and still -
and you are not alone.
The floor is creaking, slightly out of view.
Said mother to her child - 'Is that you?'
Edit: Congrats to our winners, u/SteamboatHowie and u/AllanfromWales1! We're in the process of working up your rewards now.
