[Spoilers] About to finish up my second playthrough, and this game is awesome

Spoiler

So I started my first playthrough on Easy, and while I really enjoyed the game, finishing it was an absolute slog. I never had enough ammo, I felt like I was missing a lot of abilities toward the end, and every large Typhon took multiple attempts to take down.

My second playthrough on medium went much better. I have almost every human ability maxed now (aside from Psi abilities), I have metric shittons of resources, and the Nightmare dies in like 6 shotgun blasts with Combat Focus on.

In a way, I sort of enjoyed the "challenge" of having no idea what I'm doing in my first playthrough, but the power fantasy of just mowing down everything in your path in the second is kinda equally fun. Plus I just have more room to explore and do sidequests without having to worry about depleting the rest of my ammo.

I'm reminded of my experience with Resident Evil 4: First playthrough you just barely scrape by and run out of ammo every so often, then the second time around you know your way around the game, find a lot of hidden stuff, and end up with ammo to spare.

Also, since I haven't really seen this being talked about that much, the voice acting in this game is amazing. The TranScribe audio logs are really well-acted and add a lot to the tense and mysterious atmosphere in the early game. But my favorite voice actor by far would have to be Dahl. You hear him that first time in Alex's office, and you just immediately think "oh shit, I'm screwed." That menacing voice with the vaguely German accent, his calm taunts when he calls you, it's great.

Did a No Needles run on easy and I’m surprised how durable enemies are with hardly upgraded weaponry.

I find the 9mm handgun to be completely useless and never craft ammo for it. That frees up resources to craft mods or shotgun ammo instead.

I think it's good for taking down telepaths or finishing off some enemies

Q-Beam on those guys and close the distance with the shotgun seems to work better.

It does work well for finishing enemies off which is generally what I use it for.

Yeah or a game mechanic that makes it so there's always base materials. I have loads of exotic materials cause typhon enemies respawn but can't do anything with em because I barely have any other materials. Ilyushin sometimes says something about having new materials when you're in your office but far as I can tell she's a big fat liar. Too bad.

Well, January always says (s)he's trying to find more Neuromods for you, but never delivers. You're useless, January! USELESS!

Literally unplayable.

You have to recycle more stuff. You could spawn 3 operators and kill them with your wrench and take 0 damage. Put them in a pile and use a recycler charge on them for minerals mainly. You toss in other operators nearby and any turrets just sitting there. You find enough food and suit repairs not not rely on operators. Turrets are garbage. I've tried using recyler charges on piling huge cargo boxes but the effort was not worth the outcome. I finished the game on nightmare and ended the game with about 100 minerals left to craft stuff. I got this amount mainly by not using any psychic abilities or psi hypos (recycled these) as the shotgun/handgun was good enough for the entire game.

Ugh. True, you gave me a helpful answer, but god the grind is gonna be real.

There shouldn't be much grinding in this game. With psychic abilities there might be a huge grind to complete everything. I ended the game with just the triple resists ether, fire, and lightening. I didn't spec into much of psychic stuff. The psychoscope abilities I didn't even touch.

As you play just pick up everything. If you come across a wrench or pistol, just drop non useful stuff like frayed wires to make room. You want to recycle wrenches, pistols, shotguns, etc you find to get minerals because you will find enough spare parts as you play. Hold on to any food you find. The perk that doubles food effect is amazing. As you play spec slowly into expanding inventory as you will be finding more and more food/extra weapons, but it becomes manageable.

I didn't really use psychic abilities because the shotgun can sometimes 1-3 shot a lot of enemies if you use the sneak bonus. And one more thing grenades are Awesome in this game but don't craft them as they are everywhere. The game for me went from sneaking in the beginning to pretty much how Doom plays towards the end with shotgunning most things.

My inventory space is maxed so no problem there, but I did dump a lot of neuromods into psi abilities to the point where I'm as good as endgame, but still have a lot of skills untouched that I really want to check out before I start over.

Didn't know the double well-fed thing was useful though, good to know. Good advice all round thanks.

This might be a really stupid question but I can't find an answer anywhere. When you start a new game, is it ng+? As in, do you keep all your items and power ups? Or is it literally a new game.

Pretty doesn't have a NG+, sadly :-/

Damn, I'm pretty much through the entire game but I wanna play around with skills I haven't unlocked yet and just do some more deep exploring, but I'm running out of resources to recycle and out of neuromods and ammo. Not gonna lie, tried to duping exploit, but it got patched in 1.05.

Yea, a sandbox mode would be really cool for all these powers and abilities in the game.

New game starting all over sadly

I didn't wrap my head around the fabricator and it's importance until later in my first playthrough. Second playthrough I began to amass resources right away.
