Hey guys, CNC machinist here, looking to start school to program with catia and have some questions.
So I've been running a CNC machine for 10 years, since I was 19. I'm at the point now where I've pretty much mastered our most advanced machine, and am getting tired of the 80hr work weeks. My boss has always told me that I should become a programmer, so I approached him a few weeks ago about going to school for Mastercam, to which he replied the company wouldn't help me with that, but if I wanted to learn Catia hes all for it. My main question is, what types of math will I need to have mastered in order to excel in programming school? It's been a long time since I've really used anything other than shop math. I don't want to sign up for classes if I won't be able to grasp what's going on. Also, should I take some sort of blueprint reading class? I understand a lot about blueprints but know there's still a lot I should know... Are these the types of things that we learn in the Catia classes? Or things I should go to school for before I sign up? I really appreciate the responses!
