What's the most surprising/horrifying/ect-ing thing that you've seen in a game, that your character isn't aware of?

Last session, my group's monk (And her player) got rather drunk. She was displeased that the inn's bottles of fancy wine were priced at 10 gold a piece, so she became belligerent, demanding to speak to a manager/supervisor/boss. (The player works retail. He's seen plenty of customers that act that way, and gotten their way.) She ended up getting kicked out after causing a scene, and went to the other inn in town. The inn that a local gang has taken over. She demanded they let her in to drink, and they told her to get out, and laughed at her being foolish. So, she informed them that the party had killed off some of their friends earlier, and that she could tell them all about her friends, if they'd just let her drink. Luckily for the rest of us, they didn't believe her. They roughed her up, and threw their drinks at her, someone even peed on her, then she was tossed out of the other tavern as well. (She was Level 2, and our DM is still pretty new. She didn't want to just kill this guy's monk, since he's both drunk and new to the game.) Later on, the DM laughed with me about the look on my face when the monk offered up the party. It turned out alright, but I'm still a little peeved that the player tried to get us ambushed the night before heading off to deal with the gang, just so his character could drink some more. My character has no idea what happened. She found the monk the next day, and the monk wouldn't tell her anything more than she got drunk and was kicked out of both inns.

Anyone else have some good stories? Next session is on Sunday, and I'm trying to keep myself occupied.
