I [21] really want to break up with my [20 F] girlfriend of 3 years, but I don't know how and I am afraid of how she'll react.

Relationships

Hey guys,

I've been having problems with my girlfriend recently. I really love her, she really loves me, but I really think we aren't meant for each other, and I'm too scared to tell her that. You might have seen. I’ve talked here earlier about how my girlfriend was giving me a hard time of not giving her a lot of attention in times where i needed to be with my family which made us almost break up earlier this month, but she apologized, not so long after she started complaining about what I haven't been doing because now she’s doing a conscious effort to be a better girlfriend despite the fact that she fucked up in the relationship too, not just me. Like she gets mad at me on a bi-daily basis about many things. And I’m not even upset at her for anything she does, the only thing I get upset at her is for always asking for more from me when I am really trying my best in this relationship. It’s so hard because I really want to dedicate energy into my own growth, not only this relationship and her. She would never understand that and respect that if I told her that bluntly. Which may be understandable because she is so passionate about me, but am I really wrong for wanting to owe myself a better life before planning a future with her? I love her, but she clings on to me very hard. I don’t like it, but i find it hard to tell her that. We may just not be cut out to be in a relationship. We are so different.

Now, she is really eager to move out with me into an apartment, and judging by how we've been in the past month, I REALLY dont think it's a good idea for many reasons. She most importantly wants to stay away from her parents (which they have an abusive marriage) and wants to spend much more time with me. Considering all the times she bickers at me for not doing so many things and doing more things wrong in the relationship, I can't be wrong for trying to have this sunken cost of a relationship go down any further by moving in together and bringing the fights and uneasiness under one roof. Not to mention i don't feel like it's a logical idea to do so - we are from the a region of super high cost of living, and we don't even have good jobs to support ourselves financially and I really want to finish college to and get a degree so I can have a career to fall back on if my entrepreneurship doesn't work. I feel like if we were to break up while we live together, it's going to be much harder. I really am starting to feel tired of her while she is madly in love with me. So, I really don't know at this point how to break up because its my first relationship, but i think it may be best in the long run for us. I dont want her to harm herself or me in the process. How did you guys do it Reddit? When you love someone a lot, but don't think it would be a good idea to stay together because of your differences. How did you conquer this problem and moved on?

tl;dr: I want to break up with my girlfriend that I love because we may not be meant for each other and i don't think it can improve in the future. How can i do this?
