Finding boot partition after install (kubuntu 16.04)
So I decided to install kubuntu 16.04 as my first linux (technically second but I never really used it) alongside my W10. I have one empty ~64gb ssd in which I meant to install it, and as far as I know, it did install just fine.
Well from last time I remember that the next boot should go directly to grub as it overwrites the W10 boot loader, but it did not. So I started digging around and quite quickly I remembered that I did not specify where the installer should install the boot partition. There was some drive specified but I do not remember which one.
I know that I could just reinstall and it would take maybe 10 minutes to do, but this left me wondering. What the hell happened to it? I can't find it using drive manager in W10 and have zero clue how to find it. Furthermore, I read about this command "bcdedit" on windows where you can specify to the windows boot loader a location of another boot loader (afaik it allows you to boot from windows boot loader into grub). In this command one has to specify a path for the boot loader, and I found many references to \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efias the grub path for ubuntu but nothing for kubuntu and I was too afraid to just try it out. I would have loved to be able to find the boot partition somehow and fix it with that.
So anyway, if there is someone who could tell me a little about this, I'd appreciate it. I will probably just reinstall kubuntu and put the boot partition on my W10 drive but I am intrigued by this and would like to know a little bit more. I hope that this isn't too much of a "windows question" for this sub.
