[OPINION] Is this pistol worth buying?

Solved

First - before anyone asks - I don’t have photos. Just noticed it in a local antique place and wanted some opinions.

It’s a Czech vz.27 (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ČZ_vz._27), and it’s seen better days. All of the non-handle parts are rusted and cracking, and a small part of the end of the barrel is missing. The handles are decent though and I can still see the “vz” marks. The seller says it was found in Normandy, and has it listed for $45. I passed on it given they were about to close and I needed to research it, but I wanted to be sure that was the right decision.

Here’s my three concerns/questions:

  1. Is this legal for me to own? I know that from 1898 on, it’s considered “modern”, but this thing is badly corroded and completely unusable.

  2. Is there any documented accounts of this gun being used near Normandy, or even regularly by the Germans in WW2? I read that when they rolled into Czechoslovakia they started using these guns and renamed them p27s. I wouldn’t really care to spend the $$ on a mostly corroded Czech police issue pistol but if the Germans used it that’s worth more to me.

  3. I know, no pictures - but given that really only the handles are intact and relatively decent, while the rest is rusted and corroded - is it worth spending $45 on? Obviously the “found in Normandy” story is just that - a story. Can’t be proven. But if it was regularly used by Germans in WW2, I can reasonably accept that given the type of rust and corrosion, it MAY have been found near the Normandy beaches, and thus I’m interested. I live in Charleston bear the beach so I’m familiar with what the sea and salt can do to metal - the corrosion on this pistol looks to be similar/the same. Again - I know it can’t be proven - just saying the explanation fits.

Thanks for your time!
