Let's be honest. Russiagate will be our Iran-Contra
A bunch of guilty scapegoats are charged and indicted so they take the fall in place of the President, whose mental instability all but ensures he had no real involvement in the scandal.
This is eerily similar. And since I doubt Trump himself never made a personal deal with the Kremlin, you can't really prove intent, and it won't lead to him being charged.
But you can legit indict Trump on his mafia ties. Those are real. Money laundering for mobsters and mob-aligned oligarchs. That's Trump. This is comic book corruption in real life.
But they don't have the authority, the scope, or the resources to monitor every single one of the decades-worthy of deals he's done with the mafia (Russian and American). So instead they'll focus on the easy Russia angle (when everyone of the obvious suspects worked with other, arguably far worse kleptocrats over the decades in their careers).
In fact, Russiagate may make things worse, because if all the smart guys keep getting indicted, Trump's gonna go rabid all on his own, and god help us there.
